A Welcome Message from Jeanne Chang,

Hawai'i Alpha Delta Kappa State President

June 1, 2020

Aloha to My Hawaiʻi Alpha Delta Kappa Sisters,

I hope all of you are ready to hop on our amazing HA∆K Leadership Canoe and  help us paddle our way through a very productive and successful 2020-2022 biennium. The Executive Board was the first to jump on board with my advisors and me in January. However, the coronavirus scare made us revise our plans, with the Committee Chairs and the new Chapter Presidents  joining us via Zoom meetings instead. This amazing Leadership Canoe can still take on more passengers, so I invite all of my Hawaiʻi Sisters to climb aboard as well, as we make HA∆K history together.

When I decided to seek the State Presidency, I naturally chose the theme “Take That Leap” because my goal was to enourage sisters to take on A∆K Leadership roles. Since then, my goal has become more inclusive. I have decided that it is important to get our sisters to participate in a variety of activities at all levels, and to recognize the value of their Alpha Delta Kappa membership.  Personally, I discovered that participation in state events and attendance at Regional Conferences and International Conventions truly helped me appreciate the value of my membership. As your state President, I will make it a point to “take care” of participating first-timers, so that they see these as worthwhile learning experiences.

Taking on leadership responsibilities and actively participating in Alpha Delta Kappa activities are important. Capable leaders make these activities worthwhile, and worthwhile and interesting activities encourage members to take on leadership responsibilities. The Expanded Executive Board members will be looking for their prospective replacements for the next biennium, with the “new” shadowing the “old” to be better prepared for their roles in the 2022-2024 biennium.

Therefore, I invite all of you to "Take That Leap" to serve, learn,

and grow with Hawai`i Alpha Delta Kappa to make this a

successful biennium and lead us on to the next. I am confident

you will recognize your true capabilities as you participate in

our many ADK activities. I look forward to your jumping on

board our HADK Leadership Canoe for the 2020-2022

biennium.

Fraternal Aloha,

Jeanne Chang
